Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George

Wouldn't you love to dance the night away in beautiful ball gowns with handsome young suitors? Though some may think it might be the most wonderful thing, others, not so much.

Rose and her other 11 sisters,  have to dance the night away every night. It's not as lovely as your thinking right now. Though some nights you may enjoy it more than others, most of the time its horrible. No one knows where they go at night. The only way the others know is because the dance slippers they wear, always come back ruined. The maids and Bishops try to figure it out by having Princes come and watch them at night in their room. The room has a spell on it so that when the princes come, the fall asleep before the princess' leave for the ball.

Anyway, Galen is a young solider trying to get back to his home. On the way, he found an older lady who told  him to go to the palace. He gets a magic sheet to make him invisible. ( Just like in Harry Potter)

When he finally arrived at the palace, he found someone who helped him out.  He finally received a job as a gardener. As he worked there, he meets Rose, the eldest daughter of King Gregor. They both love each other, but they can't, because if the princes find where the Princess' go at night, they get to marry one. They had 3 days to complete the mission. All of the Princes leave and never figure it out, so the spell makes them die 2 weeks later.

As time went on, Galen offered to do the mission( Because he wanted to marry Rose). The night he started, he talked to the princess' and they had hoped the spell worked. It didn't on him at least. As the night went on, he pretended to fall asleep so the princess' wouldn't know it didn't work.

When Rose is the last one to go, Galen jumps up and put the sheet over him. He followed them through a secret door in the ground. He finally got to the under ground area and instantly knew it was trouble. The place was dark and just really ugly. Rose and her younger sisters got in a boat and went to King Under Stones palace. 12 suitors are waiting for the girls to dance. They can never stop dancing, never take a break, nothing. It all goes back to when the girls mother was at the beginning of her marriage. She made a promise that all her girls would marry King Under Stone's boys. When they finally were allowed to leave, Galen had to run up to the room and pretend to be sleeping. The nights go on and finally gets all unscrambled.

You all probably know what happens know. I think this book is okay, but I wish it ended differently. It was really confusing for me to understand. Though it would never happen, maybe once in a while it's good to dance the night away. I would recommend this book for people who love Happily Ever Afters.

And they lived happily ever after....

This book is almost the same as the princess curse. If you liked this book you'd LOVE the princess curse. It has way more fantasy and less romance.
