I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore is a thrilling science fiction book that will keep you constantly wondering. You won't be able to get it out of your head until you finally finish it. I am Number Four is also part of a series, and has also been made into a movie. As you read, keep in mind the fact that seeing the movie will not prepare you for the book. The book I am Number Four will take you on a soaring ride, even if you have already seen the movie.
John Smith is a teenage boy, moving to Paradise, Ohio with his dad in hopes of staying under the radar. John, a Garde from the planet Lorien, and his "father" or Cepan, Henri have been on the move since John was little. Because John is the fourth Lorien targeted to be killed out of nine Loriens, it is neccessary to stay hidden. Especially now, since the first three have been found and killed. John moves into his new home in Ohio and quickly becomes involved in school, causing major drama. He starts a fight with the school bully, jumps out of a burning building, and not to mention, develops his Lorien "legacies" or powers. Well, in just a short time, John manages to call quite the load of attention to the small town of Paradise, officially putting him and Henri, ON the radar. Woops.
The book finishes with, of course, an epic battle, taking place in Paradise High. John, a few friends, and even a dog, kick enemy butt, gain quite a few battle scars, and scare the heck out of the residents of Paradise. In the end though, they all make it out with only a few tragedies, and get back on the road, hoping to get away from their alien foes.
I am Number Four is a fantastic book with all kinds of drama thrown in. Aliens, fighting, and even a little romance complete this book and give it a little extra kick. However, even with that extra kick, there are still just a few disapointments with Pittacus Lore's I am Number Four. For instance, John and Henri manage to stay safe, even when a video of John goes viral. The crazy escapes and scrapes with death make this book a little unrealistic, and a bit disapointing. On the plus side, I am number four introduces a lot of alien theories and creates an outerwordly feel. John's best friend is obsessed with aliens, and is constantly bringing them up. This made me think, "could there really be life on other planets?" and, "what if there were aliens on Earth?" I give this book a B+. It was a thrilling and exciting read and made me want more. I recommend I am Number Four to everyone.
