Invincible is a sequel to the book Infinity. This book returns with our protagonist Nick. In this book he is learning divination or the art of seeing the future. With this we get to meet a new character named Death, the sarcastic and sadistic reaper of souls, and his best friends named Pain and Suffering. Death is teaching Nick divination.
The main conflict is the fact that Nick believes that the new football coach is evil. In the previous book the old coach killed the principal and was arrested. So, Nick decides that he needs to stop the new coach. Nick gets his friends, Nekoda and Caleb, to help him. They spend most of the book trying to prove that the coach is evil.
While this book is very interesting and entertaining it is not child friendly. It is full of cursing and innuendos. While it is under the young adult label it is more like the author's other works and is not as child friendly as you would think. It shows the hardest parts of life and how bad things can get. It also shows an unreal perception of how things can work out in life...that even if life is terrible it will turn out great, which is clearly not true.
I found that the book is still great even with these flaws. The writing has a lot of personality. Even with this personality, the author is still an amazing writer. The author avoids confusion in the way she writes. Even though she mentions other characters from her many other series(and those are not suitable for those under eighteen years of age) she maintains focus on the current book.
I found this book keeps the streak of good books written by the author. It is one of my favorite series so you should at least try it. The book also leaves you on a humongous cliff-hanger. If you want to know what that is you'll just have to read for yourself.
