Eldest

Eldest, the second book of the Inheritance series, is written by Christopher Paolini. Eldest is from the fantasy genre because there's dwarves, dragons, elves, and magic. Action is also included in this story. There's a lot of fighting and intense moments that had me reading late into the night. The theme of the whole series is to restore peace to the land of Alagaesia by destroying the evil King Galbatorix.

In the first book you meet Eragon who discovers and raises a dragon named Saphira. King Galbatorix is an evil King who had betrayed all the dragon riders and killed them.

The second book starts with Eragon continuing his training as a dragon rider. Eragon's training was difficult until a magic spell gave hime special powers. Eragon leaves his training to go and join the rebelion against the evil king. At the end of the book Eragon battles a new evil dragon rider and learns a suprising truth about himself.

This book started slowly and sometimes I was bored to death. I stuck with the book and the action built and the end had a exciting climax. It seemed to me as if this book was a transition between the first book and the rest of the series. One theme of the book is that Eragon does his best to help people that can't help themselves. This is similair to many other books that I've read where the hero helps people. It reminded me that the world would be a better place if everyone stopped to do service.

This book begins slowly but I would encourage readers to keep reading because the end is very exciting. By reading this book you can learn about the importance of service in a fantasy world.
