The Son of Neptune

The Son of Neptune is the sequel to the Lost Hero, the first book in the Heroes of Olympus series. In the book we find our old friend, Percy Jackson, with no memory and running from gorgons. Eventually, he finds his way to Camp Jupiter, a camp for roman demigods. He meets many people such as Reyna, Octavian, Terminus, Frank, and Hazel. He learns about the roman gods and is accepted into the fifth cohort of the Legion. The book also follows Hazel and Frank. Long story short, Hazel is from the 1940's and came back from the dead, and Frank's life depends on a piece of half-burned wood. At camp they find out Percy is the son of Neptune (obviously), Hazel is the daughter of Pluto, and Frank is the son of Mars. The three of them are sent on a quest to defeat the giant Alcyoneus and free the god of death, Thanatos in Alaska. As they travel to Alaska they meet Phineas the blind man, the Amazon warriors, Ella the Harpy, Arion the horse, and Frank's grandmother. When they reach Alaska they defeat Alcyoneus and free Thanatos. They ride back to camp on the back of Arion and help win a battle against an army of monsters led by the giant Polybotes. Percy defeats the giant and is made second praetor of the camp. At the end of the book Camp Jupiter is visited by a warship called the Arco II which Percy believes has aboard a person from his old life. I really enjoyed this book, I've always loved mythology and this book lives up to the expectations I have come to expect from Rick Riordan. I highly recommend this book, (but you should probably read the Percy Jackson series and the Lost Hero or you'll be confused).
