The Murder of Bindy Mackenzie

The story of Bindy Mackenzie is one told completely in letters and documents. Written by Jaclyn Moriarty The Murder of Bindy Mackenzie is all about Bindy. Bindy is a teenager living in Sydney, Australia with her aunt, uncle and cousin. Bindy is the kind of girl who takes her studies seriously. She never lets herself take time to just relax, and she thinks that the rest of the school body should be that way too! Bindy is always doing things she thinks are kind and helpful. However, the things she does are usually the complete opposite of helpful, and they're definitely not kind.
At the start of her eleventh year at Ashbury High shes got big plans for studying. However, Bindy never expected to have a wrench thrown in her plans. Especially not in the form of a class! So when friendship and development ( otherwise known as F.A.D ) is added to her schools curriculum, she is ready to do just about anything to not have to participate. Including sending letters to the school board!
So, when Bindy sits down in the storage room for the gym at the beginning of F.A.D she is anything but convinced. To make things worse the teacher comes in through the fire escape and announces her name as Try Montaine. At that point Bindy is ready for some weird people to jump out and say just kidding! As Try sits down to begin the lesson she says that the first activity will be the name game.
( The name game is where you pass a piece of paper with your name in the center around a circle and everyone writes a comment about you. ) Bindy is not pleased with this, but she tries to be a good sport and goes along with it. She writes what she feels are nice comments on everyone's paper, and feeling like shes a complete adult and the nicest girl on the planet, Bindy does not expect what she sees. Written by her name are comment that Bindy just can't seem to take nicely. And all because of that she sets out to make her F.A.D groups lives miserable.
I loved this book. Jaclyn Moriarty tells a story about a girl who just can't seem to fit in. It's a story that almost everyone can relate to. Not to mention the suspense and twists that lie hidden in this book. If you're looking for a mindless read then this book is not for you at all. But if you want to learn something or even just read a mystery story then I encourage you to read this book.
I think that this book holds great lessons inside it's pages and everyone should read it! It tells about being yourself and how hard that can be when you get your feelings hurt. It teaches you that not everyone is going to like you. In fact some people might get jealous and try to bring you down. This book teaches you that you should just ignore those people and be who you want to be. Don't let other people bring you down and find the friends that make you feel good. Just because someone looks or acts cool, doesn't necessarily mean that they are. A person who seems cool could end up being one of the biggest jerks you've ever met.
Those are just a few of the lessons this book teaches. Its an encouraging read thats also a mystery. SO even if you don't want a book that teaches you a lesson you could still enjoy this book. I loved reading the Murder of Bindy Mackenzie, and I think you will too.
