I am Number Four

AWESOME BOOK! While most people, like me, are to cool for science fiction or fantasy books, this one was amazing, and I would recommend it to everyone. The book starts of with John Smith (number four). He is one of nine Garde, native aliens to a planet named Lorien, there job is to protect Lorien because they have special powers called legacies. Also, nine Cepan (aliens of Lorien, that don't have legacies or abilities, they are the mentors of the Garde, and help them develope their legacies) are accompanying the Garde. The reason these nine Garde and nine Cepan are are on earth is because their planet was destroyed by Mogodorians, aliens from the planet Mogodore. The Loric people look like the same as people from earth, so they could blend in. Ya, this sounds pretty nerdy and stupid but trust me it is still an awesome book. Number four is living a lie his whole life, because he has a lot
of fake I.D.'s and he can't tell people who he really is.It showed
what it would be like to live like a criminal.
Another thing about this book is that it shows the power of
friendship. Number four really never has any true friends, so when he makes some friends in
high school he feels happy and normal for the first time. Also, because of his friends, he doesn't
wan't to leave Ohio and move somewhere else. He risks his life to stay with his friends, even
though the Mogodorians are coming.
Anyway, the Mogodorians hate the Loric, so they came to earth to hunt them down. But the Loric have a charm, that they can only be killed in a specific order. Since three Loric are dead, John Smith can now be killed since he is the fourth in line. (Number fours' real name isn't John Smith, it is just one of his many fake names he has, but he goes by John Smith throughout the book.) The reason he knows is that every time one of the nine Garde die, he has a ring burned around his ankle.
After John Smith gets his third scar, he and his Cepan, Henry, have to leave, and they decide to go to Paradise, Ohio. While in Paradise Ohio, John Smith meets Sarah Hart, and Sam Goode, the only two real friends he has ever had, because he is moving and changing schools so much. He also develops his first legacy, called lumen, which makes him fire resistant, and he can make his hands light up, he learns how to use his telekinesis, and he finds a stray dog and keeps it. Because of all this, John is really happy in Paradise, and he doesn't wan't to leave. While John is at a party, the house lights on fire and Sarah is still in it. Since John is fire resistant, he runs in and finds her, and the only way out is a window, so he jumps through it. He lands, and he has no injuries. This is all over the news, which is bad because that makes it very easy for the Mogodorians to track him down. Because of this, Henri wants to leave, but because John is so happy in Paradise, he doesn't want to leave. John threatens him, and Henri decides he can stay.
Well the Mogodorians find him. There is a big battle at the end of the book. The Mogodorian warriors come, and two beasts, which are 40 foot monsters come to kill him. The battle takes place at the school, and Sarah and Sam are still there, so John has to protect them. Also, just before the battle, John meets number six. Number six is a girl that can go invisible and control the elements. Then the battle begins.
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT
During the fight, John kills a few warriors but there are way too many. He develops his second legacy, communicating with animals, and he converts a beast to fight for him. His dog, is actually a special animal from Lorien that can morph into anything, and it kills another beast. They win the fight, and John lives, which is obvious because there is a second book, but Henri dies. The dog lives, but gets a lot of injuries. At the end, John, number six, and Sam have to run away because everyone thought they destroyed the school themselves, although the Mogodorians did most of it. This was a great book that anybody would enjoy.
