Infinity By Sherrilyn Kenyon

Infinity is a different kind of book. It is an alternate reality from the authors other books that are all connected and in this reality many different people are trying to stop certain events from happening. One event being the end of all humanity. Infinity is a very humorous book but, is very sad when you look at the main protagonist Nick Gautier's (Go-Shay) life. Nick was born poor not "we can't get you this now" kind of poor but almost starving poor. Nick also is bullied by most of the kids at his school because he is poor and goes to a very exclusive private school that he got a scholarship to. The main setting of the book is Bourbon Street, New Orleans. Definitely not a child friendly place. The book also does contain suggestive themes and foul language so if you have any problems with these you shouldn't read this book and avoid the author.

The main conflict in the story is when a zombie uprising starts contain both the living and the undead. So it's up to Nick and the other protagonists to stop them. It is also time for Nick to gain the first of his many powers Necromancy. But before all that stuff happens we meet Nick's love interest Nekoda who as it turns out is the opposite of what Nick is supposed to be. The first time we see her is at school when Nick is sent to the office for fighting. The next time we see her is at the hospital after Nick had a change of heart commiting a crime and taking a bullet for two old tourists.

I found this book very entertaining. Because of the great detail and the way you get sucked into the characters they are all well written. I did a little research on the author and the reason she can be very descriptive with how poor Nick is because she was this poor. I think this really shows in her writing and not a lot of other authors can get this level of descriptive writing because they have not experienced it before. The book really makes me think about how bad it can get and it really motivates me to do whatever I've been afraid to do. It makes me think "people really have it bad I shouldn't complain about whatever it was I was angry with." The book also makes me think how much what every person affects just by existing and how anything anytime can cause so much change to everything.

To finish up I really enjoy this book and it brings up some great ideas. Some advice to potential readers be prepared for a gritty novel that isn't always happy. I enjoyed reading and think about problems and solutions in this book and hope you enjoy it to.
