The Tail of Emily Windsnap: Liz Kessler

The Tail of Emily Windsnap is about a girl who lives on a boat with her mom. Her dad mysteriously disappeared years ago. Even though she lives on a boat she has never been swimming. After years of begging, her mom lets her join swimming class. But at swimming class Emily discovers a secret that will change her life forever. She finds that she's a mermaid!

She only becomes a mermaid in water. When she steps out of water, her feet grow back. At night she sneaks out to swim. One night she finds another mermaid named Shona, and they become best friends. Shona shows Emily the world of the mermaids right below the surface. Emily even goes to school with Shona! Mermaid school that is. At mermaid school, the teacher tells the students of a merman who fell in love with a human. This of course is against the mermaid laws. The merman had a child with this human but was then locked up by the king. This merman's last name was Windsnap.

Shocked by this eventful news, Emily sets out on a journey to find the guy who she thinks is her father. Why wouldn't Emily's mom tell her all of this stuff? Well, the answer is her mom doesn't remember any of it! So Emily's in it alone, except for shona of course! Read to find out more!

This book was good, but got pretty boring at times. Some of the things in it seemed kinda cheesy. If you were a girl who liked mermaids, i would suggest that you read this. Yes, that's right i highlighted girl. Boys, you would not like this. But i don't think most boys would pick up a book with a mermaid on it. There is a sequel to this book. Which in my opinion, is way better. So if you do decide to read this book, just stick through the slow parts and remember it gets better.
