Crystal Moon by Phillip "Big Dog" Jones

Crystal Moon is an amazing book. This book is full of action, adventure, mystery, but most of all Fantasy. Crystal Moon is by Phillip "Big Dog" Jones. First of all imagine if the earth was destroyed. Everyone around you are souls in the book of immortality. The book of immortality is a book where all the people on earth suddenly die. The book is the keeper of souls until it is time for rebirth. However, their souls live on in the book of immortality. Their souls are wound in pages of the book of immortality.Only three people are sent to the world of Greyham. Before I introduce the characters let me explain the Crystal moon. I will then continue with main characters Shaylee, Sam, and George.

Crystal Moon is a crystal divided into four parts. "The crystal moon is really used for the purpose of separating the planets and monitoring their movements. It controls their distance from the sun, speeds, orbit alignment, rotations and axis tilts (Jones, 126)." The Gods created the Crystal Moon. They don't have the power to govern the worlds themselves because it would drain their power if they tried. Each of the Gods poured some of their power into the creation of the crystal moon.

There are three main gods. They are Bassorine (god of war), Lasidious (god of mischief and deception, and Celestria (goddess of evil-natured beasts). The story begins when Lasidious steals the crystal moon. When he steals the moon this causes the planets to collide into each other and choas is the result. The purpose of the journey is to correct the planets from a major catastraphoe.

The main characters are necessary for the continuation of the human race existance and retreive a piece of the Crystal moon. Initially, Shalee and Sam's purpose is to reproduce and maintain the human race but it evolves as the story continues. As time goes on, the mission changes into retreiving the piece of the Crystal moon to foil Lasidious's plan of planet collision.

George is a key element in the story to act as a decoy for Lasidious. George's role is to create a war as a distraction so Lasidious and Celestria can have an offspring. A child in the god world is forbidden. A child is a threat because he or she is a representation of both gods. Therefore, creating the ultimate, powerful, and unbeatable force of nature that could take over the immortal world. This act leads to the creation of war started by George.

From a reader's perspective, I enjoyed this book. The element of tension between mortals and gods. The development of characters came in their personalities and dialogue. The plot strengthens character relationships and enhances the god's role in the world of Grayham. The world depends on the Crystal moon like we depend on the sun. Earth is the mortal existence for humans but are there gods that control our world like Greyham.

My favorite quote is on page 493. The comedic personality of a rat named Maldwin frequently states how much he likes cheese and goes into detail with his obsession. The obsession causes him to make a moment of awkwardness progress into battle between General Fergus and George.

I would grade this book an A. I find Lasidious's plan of reproduction a need to fulfill his dream of living life freely with no rules. These rules are predetermined in the Book of Immortality. A child can change a parents' life forever but in this book a baby changes a world.

Mrs. Jensen, for some reason when I posted my book review. It came up as unknown. I am in Las Vegas because I had to attend a funeral so I am unable to change it. I would originally had it as Pink Beanie if I had been at home.
