The Son of Neptune

The Son of Neptune is written by Rick Riordan. The genre of the book is fiction and action. The main idea is close friends can become like family. This is the second book of the Heros of Olympus series. All you really need to know is the evil giants have risen from death and plan to overthrow Mount Olympus and destroy the Greek/Roman Gods. Percy Jackson is one of the main characters, he is also included in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. However, he is in a completley different environment in this story.
Percy Jackson wakes up and can't remember anything from his past except for his girlfriend's name. He arrives at a mysterious camp called Camp Jupiter. This camp is for special Half Bloods that believe in the Roman Gods. Percy soon learns he is the son of Neptune the God of the Sea. He becomes friends with Hazel daughter of Pluto and Frank son of Mars. Mars comes to Camp Jupiter to give Frank, Percy, and Hazel a quest. Their quest is to go defeat the evil giant Alcyoneus and save Thanatanos the god who is in charge of keeping people dead. He has to save Thanatanos to make it possible to keep monsters from coming from the dead. On this quest you will learn secrets from all three of the heros.

The theme of this book is friends can become like family. In this book, Percy, Frank, and Hazel become so close to each other that they feel more like family than they do friends. When they share dangerous experiences their friendship becomes deeper. They have many of the characteristics that families have. They care for each other, trust each other, respect each other, and watch out for each other. This is something I can relate to in my own life. I consider many of my friends to be as close as my family. In this book the author does a good job showing that friends can become like family.

This book was amazing, it was exciting and memorable. If you're interested in this kind of genre or you liked the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, then you have to read these books. I rate this book an A it was exactly the kind of book I enjoy.
