Stoneheart

This book starts with a twelve year old named George Chapman, who goes to a museum for a field trip. Then for no apparent reason, he decides to punch a stone dragon. He seems to be happy kid doesn't he? Before I get on with the crazy part, I should first say that this book is called Stoneheart, by Charlie Fletcher. After he hit the dragon, a pterodactyl and some salamanders start to attack him. I forgot to mention that these creatures are made out of stone, so there's that. George then realizes that there has been a war between the good human statues known as Spits, and the evil animal statues called Taints. George thinks that he might be the key to ending this secret war. Along the way, he meets the gunner, and a glint named Edie. A glint is someone who can see a statue's history just by touching them. There are many dangers including dragons, and the mysterious Walker. I thought that this book was a very good book with with a perfect balance of action and story. The way every character has a different back story is just great. This book shows that there are things we need to be aware of that can't be ignored. In this book, George realizes that this secret war has a huge impact on the real world. In our case, the war on terror has a huge impact on us. This is no doubt, an excellent book. There were some moments of boredom in this book, but that's my opinion. This is definitely a must read!!! A
