Bright Young Things

Bright Young Things is by Anna Godbersen. This is a good book because it represents life in New York in the 1920. It is described as care-free world, good income, the country was at peace, tons of technology, and free of prosperity. The world was carefree and fun. The three main characters are Astrid Donal, Cordelia Gray, and Letty Larkspur. Letty and Cordelia are two best friends who grew up in Ohio. They decided to travel to New York. However, their journey ends up by them fighting and splitting up. While Letty receives her job and shares a apartment with her room mates.
While Cordelia travels to find her father.
Cordelia travels and convince Darius Gray that she's his daughter. She sneaks past Gray's guards and tells him of her mother and where she was born. Darius Gray welcomes Cordelia back in the family. As it happens, Astrid's boyfriend, is Charlie who is Cordelia's brother. As Cordelia learns to adjust to her new and rich life, she falls in love with a boy named Thom Hale, which is her fathers arch Nemesis. Cordelia must find a way to meet Thom Hale and spend time with him, without her father knowing. Cordelia must find a way to make up with Letty, but has no idea where she is. While, Cordelia is spending time with both Thom and her father, but something terrible has happened and Cordelia doesn't know who to forgive and how to relinquish the past.
While Cordelia is living her life in luxury, Letty moves in a apartment with new friend. Letty has always had a dream of becoming a famous singer. Letty pursues her dream little by little, she sings for a band in the club. Ever since that day, Letty receives a fan named Grady. Who is a writer who has the same dream as Letty; the dream to be famous. Letty eventually receives her chance to become famous, when she receives a gig from a rich man. While Letty goes on in life, she realizes what it takes to be independent and learn no matter what life throws your way.You must always overcome it.
Astrid is a bright young woman, who is living the complete opposite of Letty. Astrid is living in White Cove, New York. She also loves Charlie, who is the son of Darious Gray. Astrid also has a number of hidden family secrets that are revealed later in the book. Astrid is connected to Cordelia by pure friendship. Along Astrid's journey, Astrid learns that in a mobster business you don't always going to get the attention you want. She learns about herself and what it takes to grow up.
Bright Young Things is a memorable book. The theme is observable, easy to identify, and accounts historical facts. Personalities outshine other personalities through out the book. The author describes each character, in detailed smooth sentences. The author creates a memorable story line and a plot mysterious.
A reaction this book gives you, is calmness and historical timeline for the 1920's. In this era, people cruise around in fancy cars to show others their money and possessions.
Alcoholism doesn't appear negative social element during this time period. During that time most people drank and smoked and age was not a factor of social status. These habits did not differentiate social groups and was accepted by everyone. In the book, all three of the main characters drank and smoked. Being independent, knowing who your friends are, and growing up captures life values we should be grateful for. Life will often catch you off guard, be ready with life's experience as a personal value.
