I am Number Four

I AM NUMBER FOUR
By: Pittacus Lore

Ever want to meet an alien? Well in this suspense, adventure, and romance book it talks about an alien who came to Earth when he was just a boy. He came with nine others of his kind. His home planet, Lorien, was invaded by the Mogadorians, other aliens, from the planet Mogadore. This boy doesn't have a name but a number. He is number four. There is nine of his kind that were able to escape. They have numbers, and powers. These powers, are called legacies. Each of the nine have legacies that come at different times and have different functions. They came to Earth to hide from the Moagadorians to save their race. Unfortunately the Mogadorians found them on Earth and were tracking them down. When they left their planet all of the children were given a number one through nine, a special pendant, and a guardian. Their numbers are the most important. In order for the Mogadorians to kill them, they have to kill them in order from one to nine.
This book is all about number four and how he has to survive. Number four and his guardian, Henry, have to constantly move from place to place so that they aren't found by Mogadorians. Every time they move they have to get new identities. This time number four and his guardian go to Paradise, Ohio. Now, the whole reason they left their old home is because number four got another scar. Whenever one of the nine dies it means that the rest of the nine that are still alive get a special scar. When number four gets his third scar, it shows that number three has been killed and he's next.
In this town Four goes by the name of John, playing at the age of sixteen. When John gets to Paradise High School he meets this intelligent, and beautiful girl named Sarah. He immediately falls head over heals for her. They eventually become really close. Also at this small school John meets this boy, named Sam. He is a nerd and gets made fun of for loving the solar system and believing in aliens. The whole football team bullies him, he has to deal with his mother always being gone, and especially his dad's mysterious disappearance. John feels bad for him and they instantly become friends.
For John, keeping his secret from his girlfriend and his best friend is the hardest thing he has to do, along with running from the Mogadorians who have now found him.
I loved this book with all my heart! I loved all the intense moments of action and all the secrets. It has some romance and a great friend relationship we can all learn from. It gives off the theme of don't judge a book by it's cover, and that it's OK to have help and your not all alone. I can't wait to read the second book. I give this book an A+
