Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

Tally is about to turn sixteen, and this is what she has been dreaming of her whole life. In this book there is lots of action and adventure. You never know what is going to come next. This is a science-fiction book, but is still related to real world.

In a world of extreme beauty, anyone normal is ugly. In this world, your sixteenth birthday brings you an operation that turns you from ugly into a really attractive pretty. With this you get to live in a high-tech land where your only job is to have fun. It is just a few weeks until Tally is there. But Tally's new friend Shay isn't sure she wants to be pretty. She would rather go to a world on the outside. But a couple of days before they both turn sixteen, Shay runs away.

When they day comes for Tally to get the final surgery of becoming pretty, she learns about a whole new side of pretty town- and it isn't very pretty. After sitting in the waiting room for hours, she gets called to special circumstances. This is where it is not so pretty anymore. People here look like the ones who got messed up during the surgury so they don't want to be seen in the real world. Tally gets called into a room with a big sceen projecting a letter that Tally had received from Shay. They offer her some of the worst choices she could ever imagine; find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at all. The choice Tally makes changes her world forever.

This book is very well written and I enjoyed reading it very much. This book is one of my favorite books. I love this book a lot and hope you guys will enjoy it, too. I give it an A.

I read this book and loved it. It was one of my favorite books, but then I read the next one and I did not like it at all. I thought the more books there were, the darker they got, but overall I did like the 1st book.
