    Book of a Thousand Days
                                                                     By Shannon Hale

I absolutely loved this book.  It was amazing, and very hard to put down.  Dashti is a maid to the Lady Saren, her mistress.  Saren refuses to marry a man that she hates, and her father locks her up in a tower.  Saren asks that Dashti also be there with her.  Throughout their seven year sentence, Dashti keeps a journal of things that they did each day. That is how the book was told, throughout Dashti's writing, which made it very interesting and fun.
One night, another suitor that Saren thinks that she loves comes to their small door.  Saren commands Dashti to speak in her place, and Dashti falls in love with Saren's Khan Tegus throughout his nightly visits. When the days go from very warm to freezing cold, and their food provisions run low, Dashti has to think of ways to keep Lady Saren calm and comfortable. Finally, one night Dashti figures out a way to escape, and she and Saren travel to the closest kingdom, the kingdom run by Khan Tegus.  Saren still commands Dashti to speak and act in her place, and when others find out who Dashti really is, a mucker maid, she and Saren have to find ways to save both their lives.
Hale creates whole new worlds in her writing. She writes in such a way that you feel like you have a relationship with the characters. You learn to love, hate, admire, and despise characters in this book.  This book was very interesting because it was written throughout a journal sense.  In the whole book it is from Dashti's perspective, and we learn to see her and especially Lady Saren grow and develop as people and characters.
This book has made it into my top ten favorites (which is really saying something.) I love it so much.  This book doesn't have any other books in a series, so I suggest that you just start reading it today! Book of a Thousand Days gets an A for sure!
